Leadership Checkup #2-

Much has been written on leadership. We have countless books telling us how to be great leaders. Seminars abound for training on leadership.

But so often what is missing are the hidden characteristics of the true leader. Here are some reflections that are not generally stated. What do you see in the mirror of your soul?

A godly leader speaks out of the presence of God.

The good leader attempts to make friends, not enemies.

A leader who listens well to his subordinates manages them well.

A devoted leader gives himself totally to the ones he is leading, helping them to develop their undiscovered potential.

A patient leader remembers that people’s responses vary according to their nature, temperament, and level of development.

A mature leader shows highest respect for others, irrespective of race or rank.

A weak leader retreats in the face of rising difficulties and loses the respect of his followers.

A relaxed leader relaxes his followers.

The self-righteous leader lives in a cell made of blocks of deception, hypocrisy, and lies.

A stubborn leader is a menace who cannot be trusted by his colleagues.

A teachable leader eagerly probes for truth learned by others regardless of their status.

Responsible leaders do not make irresponsible statements.

A wise leader resolves conflicts peacefully, not forcefully.

A wholesome leader is characterized by tolerance, which saves him from hasty decisions in crisis, and retaliations in the face of contrariness.

Dealing harshly with opponents causes more aggravation and hostility. A polite leader uses gentleness and kindness.

An enduring leader withstands insult without anger.

Weight Gain-

Everybody's a Photographer-

The first SLR Digital Camera circa 1991 cost around $30,000 and was used by news organizations. It was a Nikon modified by Kodak. Now that digital photography has come of age and costs of cameras has considerably diminished, everybody is a photographer or at least thinks they are! I wonder if the woman in the photo above ever figured it out.

The greatest compliment a photographer can get is 'You have an eye for it.' That is priceless! Thank you Jeana.

Content, satisfied with one's lot --

Having pastored the same church and in the same location for the past 18 years has taught me quite a lot about contentment. As I watch the new churches start, massive buildings and congregations, and significant resources, the Lord has helped me keep a proper perspective. I have kept my focus and not swerved from the path and journey I am on for more fame or riches!

My contentment is internal and in and from the Lord.

Therein lies the secret of my peace!

Betrayal is right up there as one of the most difficult and debilitating actions that we all have to face in life.

It is because it comes from someone you trusted. It may be the unfaithful spouse, boss, coworker, family member, church member, etc. There are a lot of things that hurt you in this life but I would have to say that few compare to betrayal, as it is like a viper's bite that poisons the whole body.

God was with Jesus when He received that infamous kiss. He is there with you and for you too, to watch, love, and apply an antidote to the poison!

We must safeguard our lives from becoming bitter by betrayal! Bitterness just feeds the poison of betrayal.

Isn't good to know that we do have one that can help us in our sufferings because He too was tempted as we were, experienced what we experienced, and overcame!
